/ INSPIRATION:

Higher Dimensionality

This piece is a playful metaphoric visualization of  higher dimensional space.

I studied mathematical and topological models of dimensionality higher than our everyday 3 dimensions (plus time). I then developed my own way of interpreting and illustrating the concept.

In this piece, a projection of a 3D animation (representing our 3 familiar dimensions) shines upon, and through, a "one dimensional" surface of painted transparent sheeting.  This sheeting acts as a metaphor for a 4th spatial dimension.  The wall behind it upon which shadows the projection are are cast become a 5th metaphorical dimensional layer.

The light from the projection itself can be interpreted in a metaphorically dimensional way, adding a 6th "dimension" in the piece.
